The GameStar maganize of this month has a very detailed Risen preview with lots and lots of spoilers about the gameplay.
I really hope that maybe, foobar, our beloved moderator, will translate and bring us some news from the german community. Please.

I wonder why they keep giving spoilers...
-
Those spoilers are about gameplay which are actually needed.
-
-
If about letting new people know as much about the game as possible. To people who aren't Gothic junkies. Of course I don't want to know the story spoilers and etc but gameplay spoilers are needed so I can make the image of the game I'll play, if nobody knew their fighting system nobody could criticize and etc.

Nice, october the 2nd. Or maybe not... g3 was released on october the 13th 2006 and it was a disaster. I still remember that day of apocalypse...
I hope that the same thing won't happen to Risen. Please, PB don't screw things up. If the game needs more time, give it more time.

Gee, so much new info and so little time...
Please don't mind any typos, I figured you wanted the new info rather fast than perfectly written
Ok, let's see:
Spoiler:(zum lesen bitte Text markieren)
- We have crystal magic which seems to be the offensive type of magic. It provides a fireball, magic missile and a frost spell.
- We also have runic magic which seems to be the defensive type, like levitation, transformation, buffs, etc.
- only mages are able to create runes
- Other skills are: lockpicking, sneaking, pickpocketing, acrobatics, alchemy, smithing, ore digging, viscerating
- combat skills are: sword, axe, staff, bow, crossbow
- attributes: strength, dexterity, wisdom (plus mana and hp).
- resistences: blade, blunt, stabbbing, fire, ice, magic
- Combat skills can be learned up to 10 levels
- as the hero gains skill, you can perform more combat moves. i.e. raise your sword talent to level 2 and you can launch counterattacks to break the enemy's blocks, sideswings are available at level 3, at level 5 you can perform combos, level 7 gives you power attacks when you hold down the mouse button. Twohanded weapons can be wielded with one hand at level 9 and at level 10 you can perform endless combos. But the enemy can always break your combo by attacking, so you can't just click him dead.
- animal attacks cannot be blocked, you have to dodge them which can be done by pressing a direction key twice.
- in the underground dungeons, you sometimes have to use spells to disable or workaround traps. telekinesis to reach otherwise inaccessible levers, levitation to hove across lava streams, transform into nautilus slug to pass through narrow passages.
- sometimes, you encounter green crystals which dampen all magic and you have to use other skills to advance further
- new(?) animals: armor cricket (somethings like a big cicada), giant skorpion and a new yet secret (probably sentient) species besides humans, gnomes, ogres and gyrgers.
- daily routines for every creature, even chickens that rest at a camp fire
- everywhere is something to discover: the vulcano fortress contains secret passages and on its roof lies a little treasure for those who climb up there
- lockpicking seems to be like in G1/G2, you press right/left until you have the right combo and each error costs you a lockpick
So far, so good. Any questions?

Ok, you asked for it:
Spoiler:(zum lesen bitte Text markieren)
There is no spoon!
BTW: Safe to read.
Well, as doberlec explained it to me, there are artificial barriers that block storyrelevant areas which you are not supposed to enter before a certain chapter. Normally, you don't get to see these barriers because monsters and other natural barriors block your path. The artificial barriers are there for those you find a way to trick the game and get around the monsters. A failsafe mechanism to ensure that the story line integrety is always preserved.
They also tell about a murder quest in the Fortress. So beware.
Spoiler:(zum lesen bitte Text markieren)
- Inquisitor Mendoza tells you that the recruit Hemlar was murdered. You're supposed to find the murderer.
- At the crime scene, you find the murder weapon (a knife) and a package of brewweed (a smoke drug).
- You tell Master Vitus what you found. He recommends that you speak with quarter master Caspar.
- Casper confirms that Hemlar was a drug dealer who had a partner that smuggeled the weed into the fortress.
- You ask gate guard Pallas for a list of all people who are allowed to leave the fortress.
- You speak with all the people on the list. Taylor always had to pay extra for his drugs. A motive?
- Tucker mentions that the victim was befriended with Harlock, ex-pirate and cook of the fortress.
- Harlock does not want to speak with you and throws you out of the kitchen. At least you managed to grab some stew.
- You show Karlsen, the smith, the knife. He confirms that it is from Harlock's kitchen.
- Confronted with that, Harlock gives in and tells you that Hemlar met his partner at the cemetary.
- Cemetary keeper Yoki tells you for a bowl of stew that he saw Taylor.
- Taylor admits that he followed Hemlar. He believes that the novice Ash was Hemlar's partner.
- You confront Ash but he denies to be involved in the murder. So you threaten him.
- Ash get provoked and attacks you. You win the duel.
- Ash confesses and proposes a plan: To lure the murderer out, you should deal with drugs.
- So you sell the weed to the recruits. You can get extra money from Taylor to tease him.
- After selling ten stalk of brewweed, you take a bath and wait what happens.
- Finally, the murderer shows up. He wants to take over the drug operations. They don't tell who was it.
- In another quest, you had a chance to kill the murderer beforehand. In that event, you would have been removed from the case.

Murder in the Fortress quest is nice.
I always wondered why they do not use these criminal investigation quests in the games (I am a big fan of forensics TV shows). They are not trivial, a lot of material to use, and easy to implement.
Also, it would be nice if they could implement some magical forensics skills in the future (like determining a sex from the bones, a traces of vic's blood on a weapon, and such)SKEPTICISM IS A VIRTUE!

Hm... So,Spoiler:(zum lesen bitte Text markieren)do runes contain both types of magic (runic and crystal), or just the runic magic, in which case crystal magic would be avaivable for everyone?

It's not like I'm gonna remember this till October
Sounds like GTA or Assassins Creed to me,guess Arcania wasn't the only one to have this.
yay Fable style!
Nice info from what I understood:
Spoiler:(zum lesen bitte Text markieren)Fighters will be able to use crystal magic but not runic?
